Our story
From a business office to a European industrial partner.
PRIMABIRO d.o.o. from Čakovec was founded in 1992, with its registered seat in Mihovljan, Prvomajska 30. The founders were brothers Stjepan and Željko Mezga.
The name PRIMABIRO — meaning 'first, excellent office' — reflects the original vision: to establish a business office acting as an intermediary between international markets and domestic metalworking manufacturing, an industry the founders knew well.
The fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 caused major market disruption across Europe and Russia, and the subsequent break-up of Yugoslavia and the war in Croatia led to a significant decline in domestic business activity. PRIMABIRO recognised this as an opportunity and set out to conquer international markets — finding its first clients in Austria, Germany, Italy and Slovenia.

The Mezga brothers found Primabiro as a 'business bridge' between the domestic metal-processing industry and the demanding markets of Austria, Germany and Italy.
Own production
A milestone: the company shifts from intermediary to own production in leased facilities and hires its first 79 production workers.

The company reaches over 300 employees with an annual output of 3,300 tonnes of steel structures and certified quality (ISO, DIN).
Strategic partnership
The Slovenian group Kolektor ETRA d.o.o. enters the ownership structure, securing long-term stability and continued growth in global markets.
